WORK COMPLETED (September, 2009-February, 2013)
Over the past seven semesters I have done well with setting and accomplishing my goals in all areas of my high school career.
I. Academics
I have taken a total of __ classes- __ College Preparatory, __Honors, and 2 Advanced Placement. Of these classes, the most prominent include:
-6 semesters of Spanish (2 out of the six were Honors)
-4 semesters of Chemistry (2 were Honors; the other 2 were Advanced Placement)
-2 semesters of Physical Education (passed the Fitness Gram)
-5 semesters of Publications:
~Semesters 3 and 4 I served as the Copy Editor, giving me authority over the staffers and all copy
~Semester 5 I served as Editor-In-Chief, giving me authority over all staff members, including Editors, and control over all operations taking place in the class
Most importantly, I have met all requirements necessary to graduate (excluding the ongoing classes this semester) and an overall grade point average of 3.8; this places me on Honor Roll, so I will graduate as such.
II. Extra-curricular
Throughout my high school career I have been involved in a variety of interesting and essential activities and programs. They are as follows:
-Freshman Orientation Leader (HOWL Leader) for 2 years (I was a Commissioner during my Junior year)
-Unity Week Leader for 2 years
-Camp Wolf Pack Leader for 2 years (similar to Freshman Orientation, but exclusive to incoming students who lack necessary social and organizational skills)
-Camp Lead Attendee (a program dedicated to ending bias and building strong leadership skills)
-Boys State Delegate (I was sent to the state capitol for one week to create and run a student formed government)
III. Employment
I was employed for four months (October-January) as a coordinator for Sport Clips in Santee. My responsibilities were to manage products, quickly and precisely clean stylists' station between their appointments, check clients in, sanitize all equipment, and keep up the cleanliness of the store. I resigned so that I could focus on my school work and prepare for the near future.
IV. College Preparations
I applied only to San Diego State University because it was the most feasible option with the distance from my home and the cost, and they accepted me on February 28, 2013. I also applied to the FAFSA in order to get any and all financial assistance that I can, including loans. I have completed all of the necessary and recommended A-G requirements including an additional year of mathematics, language, and science.
IN PROGRESS
There are a lot of items I am working on now to continue to meet all of the goals that I have set for myself.
I. Academics
I am taking five classes this semester in order to finish the school year with more than enough credits required for me to graduate. These classes include:
-Advanced Placement Government
-Teacher's Aid (only worth half the amount of credits)
-Beginning Photography (to complete the arts requirement)
-Writing for the World (in place of the normal English class)
-Publications (I am continuing as the Editor-In-Chief)
II. Employment
I do not currently hold a job, however I am in the process of applying to several locations close by so that I will have an income to help me pay for my college and miscellaneous expenses. I am also obtaining recommendations from previous employers and teachers.
III. College Preparations
I am filling out of the forms that accompany applying to the San Diego State, Study Abroad program. The application is specific to the United Kingdom, and I am looking through all of the possible options before I make any final decisions.
TO BE COMPLETED
A majority of my goals have been met, and there are many I am currently working on, but there are also some that need to be completed in the near future.
I. Academics
I need to buy my cap and gown for graduation before the deadline, and I need to make sure that I graduate on Honor Roll in a silver gown. I also need to prepare for the finals that are just a few months away.
II. Employment
I need to meet with my former employer in order to get a formal letter of recommendation for future jobs, and I must schedule interviews with any potential employer. Therefore it is important for me to go into their place of business and talk to the manager face to face in order to be recognized.
III. College/Career Preparations
San Diego State University expects a timely response to my acceptance, so I need to let them know I will be attending before the deadline comes. If accepted into their Study Abroad program I will have to obtain a passport and plan out what courses I will need to take so that they match up to the college's specific requirements. I will major in Psychology so I'll need to take classes that correspond to that. Furthermore, I will have to start looking for a place to live because after college graduation I will be moving out.
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS
With so much to plan for in the future, there is a high chance that I will run into some obstacles along the way.
I. Academics
If I for some reason fail one of my classes this semester I will not meet the requirements to graduate and all of plans with have to wait until I repeat them. If I were to get lower grades it could change my grade point average to less than a 3.5 and I will no longer graduate on Honor Roll.
II. College/Career Preparations
If I do not keep at least a similar grade point average as the one that I reported to San Diego State University then they will drop me from their enrollment. I may not be accepted into the Study Abroad program in which case I will have to rearrange my schedule to match with my life in San Diego. Another possible issue is if I change my major. At some point I realize that I am not interested in Psychology then I will have to change my courses to match with the new major that I choose, ad possibly make up for the time I wasted.
